After reading My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss, students began to associate colors with emotions. Then they created their own artwork based on Mark Rothko’s paintings. Using chalk and pastels they created multiple color rectangles on a page to evoke a feeling. They reveled in the tactile interaction, proudly displaying dirty fingers. This photo was taken at the end of class with each student expressing the emotions they chose for their Rothko work on their faces.
