Pinwheels for Peace is a project started in 2005 by a few art teachers in Florida. An art teacher friend of mine continues the project making pinwheels for peace with her middle school students. These pinwheels are to celebrate International Peace Day this year which was on September 21st. For more information on this project please visit the original website: http://www.pinwheelsforpeace.com/pinwheelsforpeace/the_project.html.
At Pine Glen, fourth grade students reflected on peace as a state of being and a way of living. Students drew from personal experience to create their drawings and wishes for peace on their pinwheels.

Want to make your own? Use this template to get you started:http://www.pinwheelsforpeace.com/pinwheelsforpeace/pinwheel_template.html
We used pipe-cleaners (cut in half) in the place of pins. A pencil can be your base.
Sharpen the end and you can put it in the ground and watch the wind spin.
