Students practiced the Japanese art of Origami. They folded peace cranes and together discussed what it means to have peace, to be peaceful, and the definition of peace. They read many quotes about peace from varying points of view and then wrote their own thoughts about peace and its purpose in the world. On Art, Music, and Technology night, these cranes will be individually strung and hung up on display. Your student's thoughts will also be available to hear by scanning a QR code with your smart device (iPod, tablet, iPad, iPhone, and Android). You can listen to the artist speak their own thoughts and experiences of peace. More information on the QR codes coming soon- stay tuned!

Our fifth graders are making Zentangles. Students draw a frame and then within the frame draw a tangled line. Students select designs to place in the spaces and loops that the line provides. Through the use of repetitive designs in high contrast black and white students focus on visual weight and balance. The results will be coming home soon! Fifth graders are drawing our special guest: Mr. Bones. They are learning about proportion. Once they sketch out some poses they will select their favorite to draw in proportion. Students will then draw Mr. Bones in the pose they chose. He's been disco dancing and running all day. Come back later to see the finished artwork! |
