Fourth graders are creating their own Rangoli designs. Rangoli is a folk art common during the Hindu festival of Diwali. People use paste from rice flour or crushed stone to paint floors, walls, and doorsteps in bold, colorful patterns. Our version of these symmetrical designs are hand drawn and then colored in with sand. Students pinch sand and sprinkle it on glue covered shapes. The result is a shimmering centralized pattern with bold colors. Gallery images coming soon!
